The Guild Hall
TeamSpeak Tutorial

A Quick Reminder: You do not have to have a microphone to use TS. You can just listen in on the jabberings--err, strategizing--of your team. It makes communication very efficient, so we encourage doing so.

All you have to do is download the TS2 client here

It's free and easy.

Once you have downloaded the client, open the program. Getting started is this easy:

  • Click Connection -> Connect
  • Right-Click on Servers
  • Add Server - Name server for saving (BHG/BHeG Server is fine)
  • Create a user name - How you appear within TS (Current character name preferable)
  • Click bubble next to Anonymous/Not registered
  • Enter Server IP (ask fellow guild member or PM a forum admin)
  • Enter Server Password (ask fellow guild member or PM a forum admin)
  • Click Connect!

If you do NOT have a microphone that you are using, once within the TS server, please click on Self and then Mute Microphone. Even if you can't talk, sometimes your in-game music will still come through.

If you DO have a microphone, please us the Push to Talk option if you are unfamiliar with, or unable to properly adjust the microphone voice activation level. This helps prevent you from annoying other users by breathing into the microphone, or other random things that might get yelled inadvertently by someone in the room which gets sent to everyone in the current channel.

To setup Push to Talk click on Settings -> Sound Input/Output Settings. Click the bubble next to Push to Talk. Afterwards, click the Set button. The next key you press will be set to activate your microphone when in the server. Choose a key that will be easy for you to find mid-battle, but remember to choose a key that is not already used within Guildwars. Depending on your mouse, you can sometimes use one of the extra buttons on your mouse as the Push to Talk activation key.

If you choose to use Voice Activation, please test the level until you find the correct setting. To do this, click on Activate Local Test Mode. Increase the Voice Activation Bar as you speak at your typical voice level. Continue until your voice stops registering and stops being sent back to you via your speakers. At this point, fine tune the level so your breathing is not picked up, but also ensure that when you start speaking the first part of your comment is not broken off by the Voice Activation Level being too fussy about what it registers. Afterwards, Deactivate Local Test Mode.

Next, you should test your microphone sound level. Turn your speaker volume to a normal level, or at least to what normal human ears would consider normal. Now turn back on Activate Local Test Mode. Speak into your microphone and adjust your microphone volume level (varies depending on sound card) until your voice is coming back through your speakers at a normal, casual level. This helps ensure that everyone can hear you. Deactivate Local Test Mode.

If you have any technical questions PM a forum Admin and they’ll direct your question to the person best able to answer it.
